come on in (or out, as the case may be), the weather’s just fine

A little bit about this blog.  Wanderlust is a German word for the’ irresistibly strong desire to travel or wander.’  And why the “urban” tag, you might ask.  Well, I’m not exactly living the dream out in a cabin on Walden Pond.  It is so common in this rough economy for people to feel trapped in their day to day lives by circumstances out of their control, no job, no money, house too small, car not big enough.  People looking beyond to a time or place where they will have more money, more time, a place at the lake, etc, etc.  Just a hankerin’ for that good ol’ green grass on the other side of the fence.  Putting the joy of life on hold until some point in the future that is always just out of reach (darn fruit, why you hanging so high).

You’ve all heard something like this before…”I just can’t wait to have a good time when we go to Mexico.”

Mexico?  Sure Mexico is lovely, but why not build your own little paradise filled with adventure right here.  About the most sustainable travel option you can go for nowadays – and right up there in the affordability category as well (see the win, win here?).  I’m here to tell you, with the right amount of ingenuity, an open and adventurous spirit can find what they are looking for in the here and now.  All you have to do is step out your door.  Or for the more cerebrally indulgent folk, a quote from the infamous Willy Wonka of the chocolate factory…

“Come with me
And you’ll be
In a world of
Pure imagination…

…If you want to view paradise
Simply look around and view it…”
